Our Community Appearance Board (CAB) Awards Program

  1. The City of Miramar’s Community Appearance Board (CAB) is pleased to sponsor the Neighborhood and Business Improvement Awards.

    The purpose of these awards is to provide opportunities for the CAB to recognize individual properties, businesses, and collaborative projects that improve the quality of life and the aesthetic aspect within neighborhoods.

  2. ELIGIBILITY

  3. Any single-family or multi-family homeowner; homeowners/civic association; neighborhood group; business owner or business group within the City limits who has completed an exterior improvement project to their home or business or a collective neighborhood improvement is eligible to nominate it for an award.
    The CAB Awards are presented each year to encourage aesthetic awareness and to acknowledge individuals and organizations who are working to enhance, improve and beautify the City.

    1st Place: Two tickets to five events at the Miramar Cultural Center
    2nd Place: Two tickets to an event of the winner’s choosing at the Miramar Cultural Center

  5. PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE COMPLETING THE APPLICATION.

  6. ELIGIBILITY

  7. All projects must be located within the City of Miramar and be visible from a public roadway.
    All projects must have completed all required permitting by the entry deadline date.
    The property owner must authorize the submission of a project and must sign the application. All submissions will be verified with the property owner(s).
    The application must be complete and all required entry materials must be included. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

  8. PHOTOGRAPH REQUIREMENT

  9. Supply color photographs of the front elevation of the property only, as seen from the public roadway. No photos of the back or inside of the property. For renovation categories, please provide a minimum of one photo of a “before” view.
    Remove all text, dates, frames, logos, etc., from the photos. Architectural renderings will not be accepted.
    Photocopies of photos will not be accepted.

  10. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  11. Projects must be entered for either New Construction, Renovation or Other Improvement.

  12. EVALUATION CRITERIA AND JUDGING

  13. The project is evaluated by the property’s front elevation, structure and outdoor space, and how the project visually affects the surrounding community.
    The Community Appearance Board will make the final selection of winners using a point scale established prior to the judging. The Board may choose not to award a winner in each category. The Community Appearance Board also reserves the right to combine and/or change award categories.
    Awards are provided to the property owner(s).

  15. Completed applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on December 31, 2015.
