With the upcoming development of the Parc View Townhomes Project at the Perry Park/Wellman Field property, the City of Miramar in partnership with the School Board of Broward County, Florida are developing the recreational field at the Henry D. Perry Educational Center located at 3400 Wildcat Way, Miramar, FL, 33023 into an active park available to be public weekday evenings and all day on the weekends. This will allow the current park uses to not only transfer to the new site but will enhance the activities from what is available now.
The existing site will be improved with the following:
- Open play field area
- 200-meter oval running track with a 100-meter straight away
- Restroom and equipment storage building
- Playground system
- 1/4 Mile walking path with exercise stations
- Table tennis tables
- Updated tennis, basketball and racquetball courts
- New lighting, benches, water fountains, and receptacles
The City’s Project Manager is E. Denise Cone. Jorge A. Gutierrez, LLC is the architect and D. Stephenson Construction is the contractor retained by the City, both minority owned firms. The project will commence in the Fall of 2022 and is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2023. The project budget is $5.5M, approved by the Commission on October 12, 2022.
This project is part of the Historic Miramar Innovation and Technology initiative.
An acre of the existing park will remain as a “passive park” adjacent to the townhomes and will be accessible to the public. This park will have a walking trail, trees, benches, green space, parking and a playground.
